Just for clarification I am not talking about the fastest time to win, but the fastest overall (i.e. what it will take to be all-state, numbers of guys under 9:30, 9:40, etc.).
Incidentally, IMO the Class A record should be 8:57 since Stevens ran 8:57 as a Class A runner. Our state records in Illinois are essentially meet records not state records for the respective classes. Anyone agree or disagree? Just curious about what some of your guys thoughts are on that issue???

Totally agree. It shouldn't depend on what you run at one race, but rather what you can do during the season.

newpackman: it's not the 3200, but you mentioned Zebo Zebe from Unity in the 800 in the discussions about Parker Thompson. Zebe is definitely one who could challenge Thompson in the 800 because Zebe also runs the 400 and I recall his best 400 time last spring being around 51 flat. With regard to PBL, Brehm and Cardosa will probably concentrate on the 3200 and double sometimes in the 1600, Pacey will probably focus on the 1600 and 800 and sometimes run the 3200 or 400

i believe the winner will be sub 9:20 and i think the last all stater will be in the 9:30s. i think it will be very fast this year for class A and the racers wont be very strung out. this is the class that has been talked about since their sophomore year and now have become the great racers that they are. This should be one of the fastest A races top to bottom that has occured in a while. Good Luck to All!

I know Block ran the 1600 already this year, but I haven't seen any 3200 times for him yet. This weekend Feldhake will be at the EIU indoor meet. I really doubt he puts a great time up as the feild will have a hard time pushing him. Others in the feild should include whoever monticello decides to run in it, same as robinson, and Powers from cumberland.

Reminder, there is no 3200m run this year at EIU. They've replaced it with the 200m dash this year to make the meet run faster and to make it identical to the gals meet now. It really sucks now, cuz it makes it hard to find a 3200m indoor race to qualify for IPTT for Class A. This will make the 1600m more interesting though, cuz everyone will be fresh.

Sandro Mazza did do cross this year. He had a solid season for a sophomore, breaking 16 quite a few times throughout the year. I am not sure what kind of running he did this winter but I will find out at our conference indoor this weekend. I think he will be around 9:45 when state rolls around.

Also the fastest 3200 I can remember in A history is just two years ago when Stevens went 9:10 to win it. What Ben was saying is that it will be the fastest field ever. That's a no-brainer, The only runners marginally close to Stevens were Scott Krapf and Tyler Bradford.

9:30 this early. Wow. I'm not sure who could touch that right now. I'd guess that maybe there are like four or five guys in single A that can go sub-10 right now. The thing is that Block will level off about at the 9:10 range on the really fast side, and the others will improve enough to catch up and make it a real race.

I know that EIU and the Gene Armer Invite didnt have the 3200 but did any guys run the 3200 anywhere at a smaller meet or something?
I know this is kind of off topic, but when is the cutoff date for sending in times?

Tedrick ran 2:02.53 at their indoor conference meet. He won by about 3 seconds. When did he get the speed?

There's no way Patterson will beat Newcomer, at least in the shape he is in now. There's not going to be a whole lot of excitement in the 3200 anyways though, there just aren't enough top runners doing it. It's going to be boring watching Newcomer lap everyone...
