We at Illinois Prep Top Times have recently decided to merge with Dyestat (http://www.dyestat.com), and will soon be operating as Dyestat Illinois. There will be some major changes made, among them will be the closing of these message boards. Feel free to ask questions on these message boards under the category Web Site.
The new web site will enhance the coverage of Illinois Athletes on the National scene, and will allow for us to do more with the web site and the events we host.
We hope you enjoy the change of view,
Bob Geiger & Tony Jones

Three quick questions....
1. Will the new site relationship allow for you (or whoever) to keep publishing the Illinois leaderboards, both indoor and outdoor...
2. I assume this will not affect the "IPTT" indoor meet, except maybe to change the name ?
3. Will a poster have their name and password transferred to dyestat's boards ? (and, as a comment - please, please have someone try and monitor the dyestat boards to edit the sign on / bump up / picture junk content - many times it is so much or so long it makes the board virtually unreadable)

Leaderboards will remain the same.
Indoor Classic will remain the same, not sure if we'll change the name.
You will have to register on the Dyestat MB, but I believe we will have admin privileges.

When will this merge take place? How long will it take to complete?
The nice thing about IPTT was that it was about Illinois and Illinois only. The Dyestat site looks really commercial and really cluttered. You said, "The new web site will enhance the coverage of Illinois Athletes on the National scene." For the vast majority of Illinois high school runners, the national scene is irrelevant.
Do you want to elaborate more on the advantages of merging with Dyestat?

Our site will be Illinois Only, it will be linked to Dyestat. We will be able to submit article for national recognition when needed. Beyond that, our coverage of Track and XC in Illinois will remain the same. It is not our intention to commercialize the website.

Bob:
Why does the forum have to stop? I ask because dyestat's forum is a load of crap. They may like it that way, but everyone here already visits dyestat to begin with and their forum even though it sucks just to keep up with the national scene. They more than anyone should know that local operators (IPTT) are better suited to give those kids in state credit where credit is do when those athletes are not national caliber. Were these concerns expressed or even discussed?
Regards and my 2 cents, Dan

Like I said previously, our coverage is still going to be focused on the State level.

Will there still be an IPTT site?? Or will we be forced to find what we are looking for through the cluttered dyestat site?
When is this going to take place?

I am sure hoping the IPTT site continues in all respects save the forum, and if a user wants to shift the forums, enable a link off the IPTT site to go directly to the Illinois dyestat site in "talk".
I agree - the dyestat site is cluttered and hard to find information, especially the first couple times. It is concentrated on national type info, with less state info, particularly on smaller schools /divisions...

Why not just improve the IPTT site? With an updated site using a CMS (content management system) it would be easy to maintain the site and an RSS feed to be provided to third party sites like Dyestat which simply syndicate the content when appropriate.

Improving the site and assisting Illinois track and field in what it deserves moving up to Dyestat. Keep in mind Dyestat started this high school resurgence back in '97. They are one of the reasons why I cover the sport. In saying that, it was a hard but right decision to join forces with them. Believe me it will make us more visible from a state level first. I think people don't understand. We will have a seperate page from Dyestat (similar to Dyestat Cal). We will only be covering Illinois Track & Field and Cross Country. You will find everything you're used to, only at a different web site address. If you bookmark this page, you'll still have access to these message boards. I'm not sure how long they'll be up, but I'll leave them as long as I can.

Keep in mind that the folks behind IPTT have full time jobs, coach teams, have a life (family or whatever), and do this website. In addition, it will help get exposure to our ILLINOIS athletes which in turn can help them get noticed for college scholarships, etc. As much as people are resistant to change, I think this is for the best for our Illinois athletes. I appreciate their efforts to take the site to the next level.

When we took over IPTT the sentiment was that offering many services that we now have wouldn't be good. Well, we aren't afraid to take risks. If this business venture fails then we take more risks. That's how you succeed.

I'm more proud of the fact they wanted us really bad. This says a lot about our state. One of my goals are being realized. I want our state's best to be seen loud and bright.

Does this mean Illinois Cross Country is going to be lumped into one topic again, or will there be A, AA, and AAA message board?
I really enjoy this site because it is the only place where I can go to get information on the lower two classes(A, and AA). Dystat seems to be dominated by AAA runners who complain and whine about everything and really have nothing positive to say.

il.dyestat.com They have a bit up, but very much still under construction. It's going to be a longer transition than we thought. We're moving the leaderboards now, then we'll move results. We will be doing more & more transitioning as the weeks go by. I think we'll be completely moved over by cross country.
