I'm not sure how many of you have been to Proviso West's indoor track, but I understand that Dan Brock from Lake Park threw a shot during the Proviso East Meet on 3-21, and hit the back wall. I haven't been to Proviso West in a while but I remember that the shot put is held on a balcony and there's a fence up to prevent the shot to go on the track. There's also a fence which is placed far enough away that the competitors won't hit. According to the results they gave Mr. Brock a throw of 62-6 but I heard that it was a much farther throw. The backstop held the throw up. AMAZING!!!! Just in case anyone is confused like I was at first, Proviso East hosted the meet at Proviso West High School.

It was amazing. The kid really through 64 something. It will be amazing when he throws over 200 feet in the disc and throws 70 in the shot. Cant wait to see what college gives him a full ride.

Are you talking about Dan Block from Lake Park??? Is he really only a Junior? I see he was 183-4 in Disc last year, and 57 and change in the shot. If he is only a junior, look out! But, I see him getting to 200 in the disc A LOT faster than 70 in the shot given the ideal conditions (good head wind, etc..). And if either of these happens, I can see many many offers for him.

You mean a lot more than 200 in the disc? (just wondering because you talked about headwind)

No, I mean with the ideal conditions, such as a great release, good headwind to hold it up, etc.. He could reach 200' in the disc sooner than adding another 6' to his throw in the shot. I just meant there are more variables that could play into his favor in the disc. Let's face it, a head wind or tail wind is not really going to change the outcome of a 12lb. shot throw the same as a 1.6K disc!

haha Sorry I misread it for some reason I thought you wrote that he could get to 70 feet in the shot with good conditions. Oops.
