I find it a minute later: 1 Kyle Leonard (Sr.), New Lenox (Lincoln-Way) 1:52.63 2 Marius Bakken (Sr.), Elmhurst (York) 1:53.78 1 Marius Bakken (Sr.), Elmhurst (York) 4:12.40 2 Edward Riegert (Sr.), Downers Grove (North) 4:14.18 1 Marius Bakken (Sr.), Elmhurst (York) 9:07.34 2 Matt Macievic (Sr.), Chicago (De La Salle) 9:15.88 (J. Torres was 8th) I was at State that year, unfortunatley I bowed out in the prelims of the Class A 1600, but I had a good seat to watch Bakken almost pull it off. He'd run faster times all season but at State he took off with about two laps to go in the 3200, got gunned down the last 100 in the 800 and powered away in the last 300 in the 1600. Leonard was really moving in the 800. It was quite a contrast in body types too. Bakken was pretty slim and Leonard was broad shouldered and thick chested. He looked like a full back. Bakken later ran a 13:06 for 5000 meters and ran in two Olympics.

He is a young runner and could still improve a lot for this track season. We will see though, thats just my opinion.

He didn't say Parker wouldn't improve. He just said that's what he thinks times will be like at finals.

The 800 will have many contenders. Thompson is the favorite but some other contenders will be Sr. Josh Wilson - 156:85(prelims), Sr. Mike Ruyle - 157.25(prelims), Jr. Zebo Zebe and I'm sure some other kids will step up and cut a lot of time off their PR's. Many factors will come into play. Some kids will run in events before the 800, season injuries, even the weather at state. It should be a very competitive race and faster than last year's.
I forgot to mention that some sectionals were very tough. Some quality runners didn't advance to state and could be in the mix this year.
