I just recently found out there is a misconception amongst several girls soccer players (coaches?) that running XC hurts the soccer player's speed and that they should work on speed during the off-season. Has anyone else run across this misconception and if so, how did you confront it? It's sad because the XC players can actually play the whole game (midfield and forward) without needing to be subbed while the "speed" players require timed rests.
