Does anybody know how hard it will be to advance out of the Chicago Jones sectional as an individual? I also wanted to know if anybody else has no real team and trains by themselves?

hmmm i am not sure on this one, but if for some reason walther lutheran does not make it down as a team, Sandro Mazza and Martin Avila will make it down individually.

Andrew Larsen from Montini will be a top individual at Jones! He is a returning AA state qualifier from last year, and ran a 9;25 3200 in Track! He will push Stein from Marmion in the upcoming SCC Finals race for about 2.5 miles and then Stein will probably shake him. He is only a jr. and has excellent potential in 2A

if lemont ends up not going as a team then they will definitely send 1, maybe 2 runners down

i would agree with lemont sending down runners if they dont go as a team. they have 1 guy in the 1540s another in the 1640-50 range and another who could be in the 1640s

The top runners that I have in the Jones sectional and approximate equalized times ( equalized to Peoria Woodruff):
Wheaton ST. Francis: McKnight and Diamond ( 15:33, 16:08 ) Wheaton Academy: Derenzo ( 16:25 ) Illiana Christian: Kramer, Warner, Schmal, Piaskowsky ( 15:46, 16:09, 16:32,16:33 ) Northridge: Puschuatz (15:59) Walther Luth: Mazza, Avila ( 16:05, 16:27 ) Glenbard South : Miller ( 16:32 ) Montini: Larsen ( 15:25) Lemont : Casey ( 16:21 ) Univ High: (16:24) Nazareth ( 16:46 ) Bremen: ( 16:48 )
So depending on the course conditions at Niles West, running a sub 16:30 ( 16:10-15 at Niles West ) may give you a good chance at qualifying.
Assuming WSF and Illiana Christian qualify as teams and the next 3 teams are question marks but you have to figure as Larsen and Puschautz as the probable top individual qualifiers which leaves you with around 8 guys of which at least 3 will be on qualifying teams.
Note: Puschautz ran a 15:39 at Niles West a couple of weeks ago.
Also, hard to find results on most of those city schools so there may be a sleeper in there somewhere, plus some teams have had some injuries and been withholding runners but that gives an idea at least.

Lake View from the Lagrange Regional, is looking to send two varsity runners to state, Alex Agafonov and Sirak Areki, both in the 16.20-16.30 range right now.
