Based these off of a mixture of sectionals and past results becaue i figured a few people had sub par sectional races or whatnot. Deff biased again the chicago sectional. I do not think at all that Illinana Christian is that good and may have ONE all state guy.
1.Nick Holmes- Limestone 15:00 at sectionals (East Po) on a tough course which converts to about a 14:40ish which is outstanding by himself. Continues a great season, undefeated by anyone in Illinois. Deffinetly the favorite heading in to state, but you never know-many things can change at state. Yet still, 20 seconds better then the next runner helps tons so he is the favorite Predicted time: 14:34
2.Tim Hird- Alleman 14:53 at Belvidere, converts close to peorias courese but with wind, mabe 10 seconds slow. Good two races these last two weeks especially with a nice kick at sectionals. Should be close race between the top 2-5 for 2nd, 1st depending how holmes runs, because it will be this close Predicted time:14:43
3.Derek Campbell-Sycamore 14:54 at Belvidere, as said, 10 seconds. was in the lead pack the whole race and only just got outkicked. Has run strong all year including only losing to two AA runners all year (hird twice at regionals and sectionals but has also beat hird at woodruf and sterling) and Lane by .3 this last race. Running with a cause, as he leads a strong sycamore team. Without having to sit as much as last week, look for some fast times from this 2-5 group Predicted time:14:44
4.Nick Lane-Grayslake North 14:53 at belvidere. ran a tough race, almost kicking down Hird and suprising most people with the 2nd place. Led parts of the race and ran really strong. An underdog and not relatively known runner before sectionals, he fits into this 2-5 pack that most likely will come down to a kick again, which he shows he had at sectionals Predicted time: 14:45
5.Moe Bahrani-Vernon Hills- 15:00 at belvidere. although his time shows he was a little back, he was with the hird, campbell, lane pack all up until 400 left when they took off. Possibly lost his kick because of leading into the wind a couple times but still, a strong showing. I think the 15:00 is good but may have been a tad of an off race for him. Look for him to prove himself at state with a great showing. Predicted time:14:50
(notice 4 out of the top 5 are from the belvidere sectional=how tough the sectional was) and now i stop writing as much
6.Blake Brooks-Dunlap 15:42 at East Peoria (20 seconds or so off). Had an offrace at sectionals, including a possible fall i heard about on muddy turn?? anyways, i think will bounce back and be a sleeper at the meet. One of the only sub 15 guys (14:56, Pioneer Meet of Champions) heading in to the race and if he runs well, could be close to the 2-5 pack. Could be anywhere from 2nd to 24th. It just depends what Brooks shows up. Predicted time:14:52
7.Kevin Forde- UHigh 15:23 at East Po (20 seconds or so off). Ran well finishing 2nd to holmes, only twenty seconds off. Dont know much about besides seeing times. PR is close to 15 flat on peoria more then a month ago so will need to break 15 if he wants to be top 10. I see him an the rest of the 7-14 guys being in the 1st pack till about the mile and a half and then breaking off. Forde wins the 2nd pack if he runs well Predicted time: 14:57
8.Colin Mickow-Princeton 15:07 for Belvidere (10 seconds). Was in the lead pack untill 2 miles left and he fell off. 15:08 Pr on Peoria this year. will be right up there with the 2nd pack. Predicted time 14:58
9.Neil Anderson- Chatham 15:41 for Centrelia (35 seconds?) Havent seen much great showings this year, but if last year is evidence of how well he performs at state then i know hes coming allong. one sectionals and has been improving everyweek. Predicted time: 14:58
10.Matthew Gilmer-Sycamore 15.14 for Belvidere A late bloomer this year, improving every single meet. From what ive heard, a very smart runner who sits and builds during the race. A tough stragety to do at state with so many people, but by being strong at the end, could be very good if he has a kick Predicted time: 15:07
11.Peter Grimson-sycamore 15.18 for Belvidere. Ran a dumb race in my mind, leading the main pack into the wind a couple times and dying off, but still, agreat improvement over the last couple of weeks. With the inability most likely to lead at state, could see a top 10 out of him if he runs smart, he certainly has the talent. Predicted time: 15:10
12.Brian Mcguire- Alleman 15:28 for Belvidere. Id say a sleeper, and im a little biased as i know him personally, but he has significantly dropped 10 seconds per meet the since sterling (from 15:50 to 15:20s converted) and i see another drop come state. Predicted time: 15:11
Tired of writing stuff as this is taking forever. If i get more time ill come on and write more stuff but for now im just putting down rankings and predicted time
13.Clay Elward-PND East Po sectional Predicted time 15:13
14. Aaron Osborne-Springfield Centrelia Predicted time:15:13
15.Hunter Mickow-Princton Belvidere Predicted time: 15:13
16.Kasey Ferrigan-Dixon Belvidere Predicted time:15:14
17.Carson Sterchi-CLC Belvidere Predicted time:15:15
18.Lucas Cherry-Carbondale Centralia Predicted time:15:18
19.Andrew Larsen-Lombard Montini Chitown Predicted time:15:19
20.Nick Kramer-Illinana Chitown sectional Preditcted time:15:20
21.Garrett McKnight- wheaton st. francis Chitown Predicted time: 15:20
22.Kody Nelson-Delevan East Po sectional: Predicted time 15:21
23.Phil Diamond-WSF Chitown sectional Predicted time: 15:25
24.Brad Walwer-Springfield Centralia Predicted time:15:27
25.Spencer Guerrero-Galesburg East Po sectional Predicted time:15:33
As said, a bit biased against the southern and chicago sectionals but looking through out the year, their prs arent that far off what theyve been running so i dont think they should be any higher. Interesting fact is that 4 of the top 5 are from belvidere 6 of the top 10 and 9 of the top 15.
overall its like this:
Belvidere 11 out of 25
East Peoria 6 out of 25
Centralia 4 out of 25
Chitown 4 out of 25
