York took easily captured the team championship. (as expected) Tom Achtien won the race with an outstanding time of 14:35. He was clear of the field by nearly twenty seconds at two miles. Given the warmer conditions - this was every bit as impressive as the Graves-Holmes-Havel combo from the last big Detweiler race, when conditions were absolutely perfect. (of course, it is two weeks later in the training cycle, so maybe it all evens out - I will leave that to more astute cross country watchers)
Interesting to note - for the team as a whole, it was the slowest set of times York has run over the last five years. To set the background for comparing, the 25th runner in the race has been 15:34 ,15:39, 15:40, 15:31, and 15:34 the last five years, while the 50th runner has been 16:03, 16:06, 16:04, 15:55, and 15:54. This seems to say the race has been extremely consistent as a whole, so the weather really hasn't been a sfactor. .
York is such a special program we get spoiled watching them. They have a trophy caliber team again this year, but it does seem to be less dominant at this point in the season.
