Unless I'm missing something....which i probably am, why would Chirs Derrick not be considered the record holder for the state meet, especially since the course was lengthened since the 13:50 by virgin in '72. Derrick's official time was 13:52, i do not know the specific change in length that occured but wouldn't it cover the 2 seconds and if so then why 46% of the voters on that poll say that it shouldn't be the record
i just wanna know why
if im wrong on my facts then i apologize

If I'm not mistaken, I thought I read from the guy who does IPTT that he measured the course, and someone else did, too, and it came out to 2.97 and 2.98, after the race. Of course, their measurements weren't "official", but maybe there is still enough question about the course that they are not ready to call Derrick's time official. It's beyond me how they can go 36 or something years and still not be quite sure how far the course is.

Even if it is only 2.98, it WAS lengthened. Derrick should have the record. 2 seconds does not cover it, or they wouldnt have lengthened it.

they should have never changed the course that way all times would be comparable(other than weather) and arguments like this wouldnt happen
