Should be perfect weather for the 2007 IESA State Championships. (2 mile race)
AA Girls -Last year, Pederson (Normal Chiddix) won in 11:45 - as a 6th grader. She ran 11:22 last Saturday to win the Sectional on the State meet course in the heat and humidity, and has a PR of 11:14 so far this year. O"Brien (Lockport Homer) could surprise...a new course / state finals record seems likely.
Normal Parkside Boys AA favored to take their second straight title, with Verzbickas (New Lenox Liberty) , Atchison (Buffalo Grove) and Sweatt (Edwardsville) the main threats to Parkside's Abeling and DeGroot. You never know, but Jorge Torres record of 9:52 looks safe.

Thank you for posting the link - in case you want just the winners' times -
Girls A - Harley Briggs (Argenta-Oreana) 11:56 Boys A - Michael Simon (Springfield Lincoln) 10:56
Girls AA - Carly Pederson (Normal Chiddix) 11:20 Boys AA - 1. Lukas Verzbickas (New Lenox Liberty) 10:10 2. Jereme Atchison (Buffalo Grove Cooper) 10:23 3. Garrett Sweatt (Edwardsville Lincoln) 10:23
Team-wise - AA winner Normal Parkside had all five scoring runners go under 11:00 - pretty sure that is a first.
Big congrats to all the runners - lots of PRs today.

Here's a big congrats to Stanford Olympia Middle School Boys XC team and Coach Jessica Carson who replaced me this year. They finished 2nd in the A race, a surprise to myself, coach Carson, the Parents, and the team. Don't think I am going to take any credit other than keeping the program alive and doubling the size of the program in 3 years. Coach Carson is from that wonderful Delavan coaching tree that has spread it's wings in the past couple of years. I look forward to her continued success with the program she did an outstanding and noteworthy job this year and will continue to do so in the coming years. Look out HS AA XC next year, Olympia may be off and running. They will have 11 boys that have run under 12:30 in middle school in their hs boys program .

And was that Jorge Torres record set at the old Springfield course with the giant hill in it (or at least it seemed giant to a 13-year-old)?
