Dorian Ulrey

Ulrey is really good, but he was more suited to track and the specialized races he ran like the mile & 800. He was pretty good in Cross too. I think his best finish was 3 or 4.
By the way this past weekend Ulrey ran a 4:02 mile leg of a DMR indoors. That's pretty quick.

wrong r-tard. His 402 was open. he did, however, run i believe in the range of 405 on his respective DMR. You tell me what any of those other guys have done this year and i will be more then happy to bring you down a notch

if you go back a little in time 8:43.2 Dave Merrick Lincoln-Way. New Lenox, IL '71 that is his two mile time, one of the best 2 mile times in highschool history.. so he could be thrown into the argument

If the answers are to be limited to those specified should not the question be: Who is the best runner of those listed to come out of Illinois in recent years?

Did anybody watch the US XC Challenge thing in Boulder. It was on tv about a week ago. I think Torres got 3rd or 4th. Pretty good race though.

I think torres was fith but still very studly. I will also say I ment best of all time I just kind of through some guys I could think of toghter off the top of my head. I really should have put Sage, Spivey, Torres, and anybody else but as I've already stated I haven't seen any of those guys run. I have seen all of the guys I listed.

I left out Broe, Torres, Sage, and Winthrow because I said recent years bye that I mean within the last four years or so (sorry I'm a senior). If you go all time Torres is the man in high school. Broe is the best out of high school, and Winthrow will be the one to watch. I hope you aren't saying Withrow will be the one to watch in highschool - because he graduated in 2004.

Jager is my pick. although all the others were great runners. especially stevens. but the dettmans... they shouldnt be on this list. they were good. but no where near some of the others on the list.

Nick Holmes clearly has enough talent to be a contender in Class AA....
But...based off his actions at last year's track sectional, he will have to change his attitude and reaction to adversity before he can become a champion.

WOAH! first off this is of no relevance to this thread. Holmes is a very nice kid and a great competitor. He had a rough track end to is track season albeit a very nice 1600 at the state open races. Hopefully he can finish this season stronger then he starts it.

ALL Time Illinois HS Cross Country #1 Craig Virgin Seen them all run and there was none better. #2 Tom Graves #3 Withrow #4 Torres, Sage, Merrick, Spivey, Broe (have to think a little more) Havel will be in the mix after next year IMO Jager out of the top 8 now, knew not to rate till after the season was over!!! i agree with this assessment...therefore Withrow is the best to come out of Illinois in recent years. He has the mental toughness to go with talent.

For you Havel voters, just a note. Stevens lost to no one his senior year. For that matter no one was close to him that year. He was focused every meet.

jager had the most talent, maybe didnt work as hard as others, so it depends on the qualities you are looking for
