I totally agree. Elmwood is the team to beat. They return 6 of their top 7 and add an 8th grader who ran 11:06 for 2 miles in the IESA state cross-country meet last year.

Seems everyone can agree on Elmwood and Bago for top two sports. Next comes hard part. What does PBL have coming back?

pretty good summer times. Is Ryan Bybee their incomming freshman?

Yes, Bybee is the incoming freshman. He was second in state junior xc meet last season. I will say it once again. If Elmwood is healthy the state 1A title is theirs to lose. Winnebago next favorite. After that it could be a crapshoot. Any other opinons of teams after Elmwood and Bago?

Dont know if something like this has been posted but,
My vote goes to logan B of Knoxville, That kid looked sooo smooth at state in the 3200. Possibly the most comfortable out of all the runners i watched.
Logan FTW

I totally agree, I called Block on winning the 3200. He is definitely underestimated right now.
You guys are crazy for debating the Bago Elmwood thing for the last couple of months. It will come down to the wire. I think everybody has been looking forward to this rematch since last year. Both teams are hungry for it. I'm calling Bago though. I'm not sure if anybody will think this is funny, but wouldn't it be funny if Bago beat Elmwood by 10 points. That would be the ultimate revenge over last year.

well at least we can go off of the class A preview now....oh...wait...nvm...there isn't one

I think the reason the Class A Boys preview is always the last to come out because it is always debated over so much. It isn't like one team wins every year. It's always a toss-up.

I think the reason the Class A Boys preview is always the last to come out because it is always debated over so much. It isn't like one team wins every year. It's always a toss-up. Debated over the most or not, they have had all summer (or since they knew who was in which class) to think about it. I'm tired of excuses of most disputed, most talked about or what ever. In between each preview you have a week to talk about it. Most race on saturday, talk about it all week and post rankings on thursday or friday. Lets see if they can do us a favor and stay on top of it.

Yeah, I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but why can't they ever put out all the previews on the same day instead of putting out some on this day and then others almost a week later.

I am guessing this sort of thing takes a lot of work - and from what I remember IPTT doesn't exactly have a "staff" - it is a few people that take the time to run this site and all things associated with it. It isn't their full-time job or anything. I would rather they take the time and make sure they are thorough than put out rankings half-&%$ed and have the overall quality of the site suffer. They mentioned in the girls forum that they are working on it, and they hope to have them up Monday... even if it is Tuesday, we gotta keep some perspective and appreciate the fact that they even do this sort of thing at all!

First off gald to see the preview is finally up. Secoundly I'll throw my two cents in
Top Five Teams 1. Winnbago (Calling the upset) 2. Elmwood (This two could reverse very easily) 3. PBL 4. Knocksville 5. Oregon
Top Five Individuals 1.Matt Feldhake (Returning state champ with something to prove) 2.Parker Thompson 3.Logan Block 4.Dustin Emricck 5.Trenton Tedrick (If healthy)
There you go.

I guess I will give it my shot also.
Teams: 1. Elmwood 2. Winnebago 3. PBL 4. Marquette 5. Oregon
Dark Horse team: Robinson, Rockford Christian, and Bureau Valley
Individuals: 1. Feldhake 2. Thompson 3. Carlson 4. Emmrick 5. Montoya
News: Logan Block (Knoxville) is injured and may be out until mid October. This will surly hurt his chances for top 10 and hurt their teams chances to repeat their appearance on stage for a trophy.

d**n, that really sucks. I know how it feels to not be able to run, it sucks. I bet he will be able to do pool workouts, but if it is knee tendonitis, then he probably can't cycle.

Kyle Shimer from Robinson also has knee tendonites. didn't run on Tues. Feldhake won meet, his time 16:03 Graham Morris from Lawrenceville finished 2nd 16:14. Lawrenceville won meet. Seems to be alot of injuries this year.

What do you guys think about Uni High's chances? Also, why isn't Malcolm Taylor in any top tens.

Taylor is good.... im not sure whether he will be a top 10 but he should be an all-stater this year.... i think he should be running at Tuscola next weekend so he should get a good shot to prove himself against Feldhake and Reel from Shelbyville co-op

cross crazy's comment on 9/9 about Malcom Taylor from Urbana Uni is correct. However, Taylor did not run today at Uni's small meet at Illini Meadows and said he is still nursing a hamstring. PBL ran 1,2,3,9 and 23 (without their big meet #4/ football player). Times were slow--windy, long grass, big hill.

All you need to know is that Malcolm Taylor ran 16:21 on a very difficult (some would say terrible) course at the Olympia Sectional last year - just behind Justin Jones of Oakwood and just ahead of Doug Powers of Cumberland - missing the state meet by one spot.
When healthy, he's a force to be reckoned with, especially in the last half of the race - Malcolm's got 2:00 speed in the 800 and low 50s in the 400.

That is really though on that course. There where alot of guys who could have been all-state last year who got left behind. Powers is though, and really ran well at the end of the year. He'll be at Tuscola as well. Another indvidual at this race that could push the pace is Alan Hollingsworth from Monticello. He's running really well.
