Ok, first off. Ottawa Marquette is unbeilevably OVERRATED!!!!! Horrible mistake to even give them the credit of being ranked that high! And one of the dumbest things of all the rankings, is the sherrard ranking, the 14th place buck hill ranking, and not putting Tom Pacey from PBL, Billy Carey from Beecher, and putting Emerick 15th in State. Buck hill- has been beaten a few times by at least 2 beecher kids, a few kids from other teams as well! Still 14th in state? Tom pacey- Hurt but ready to kick some ass later in the season! Dustin Emerick and Alex Montoya- granted they didnt run so hot at woodruff , this doesnt give the reasoning to bash elmwood and those two runners!
I enjoy looking at rankings, especially on IPTT! BUT, if there going to be rankings that are completed by a person or people with uneducated reasoning DONT EVEN BOTHER MAKING THEM!!!!

BUT, if there going to be rankings that are completed by a person or people with uneducated reasoning DONT EVEN BOTHER MAKING THEM!!!! Maybe your just jealous that your not in the rankings.?.? Besides the point, the rankings aren't going to be like that all year... You have to understand, they make the rankings based off of week-to-week results. Emerick having a bad race at peoria would put him down on the list. He shouldn't still be 2nd (no offense dustin) but if other people beat him whether he had a bad race or not, they deserve to be on the rankings, or at least looked at. The guy that does the rankings works by himself, puts the hours into looking at results, goes through all the results that get sent to him, and does his best to do it. He has a day job, he doesn't get paid to give us the rankings. He doesn't even have to do them. All the hours he puts into doing the rankings you spend thinking of a way to bash him. If you don't like the rankings...Don't look at them. And if you think your so good at it. Make your own.

BUT, if there going to be rankings that are completed by a person or people with uneducated reasoning DONT EVEN BOTHER MAKING THEM!!!! Well, it seems that someone has taken issue to the rankings. I am sorry if you feel that these are being done by an "uneducated" individual. From your response, I see that I should not judge people on a week by week basis, but strictly from how they will run by the end of year. I am not a fortune teller so I can't do that, but apparently, you must have that ability. Go buy some lotto tickets; you could win big. I don't care if you have some criticism of the rankings. They are made to create a little conversation between people all across the state. I take any results that I am given and also observations from the meets that I attend to create rankings that are based on those observations and results. Now, I admit that I made some mistakes (mainly Rochester and Delavan since they are AA now), but I will continue to do this much the same way that I did them last year. If you would like to give me some advice on my rankings, I try to have them done by Sunday night/Monday morning so they can be sent to IPTT. Send results and info to me before then and I will use them for my rankings. To all coaches and athletes that have sent things to me, keep up the messages. For those of you who would like to give me constructive criticism, go ahead and email me. I want to know if I made a mistake because I want to make these the best rankings that I can. Thanks and I will be attending the BV Invitational this week. Any information on other huge meets this week will be much appreciated. Thanks again.

Well said ilclassaxc !! You do a great job, and we respect the amount of work you must have to put in. If prelives400 has results maybe he should send you the information in an email instead of complaining about it in the open forum. I am sure top times is accepting applications if he wants to apply. After seeing the BV results, it looks like Sherrard may be the real deal. I read on another thread that Marquette was missing a couple kids, but they still had to be disappointed in their finish. I don't envy you this week in the rankings. By the way, did Klaus run at BV today? I see her sister on the results, but no Olivia.

I don't know if it's been said, but I've always thought of the rankings as what it whould be like if the week they where based off of they had run the state meet. Kind of basicly like who had the best week. I've always enjoyed them and am glad to have them, because it helps me not overlook a team that I might have missed. Just my two cents on the issue.

The class A rankings aren't bad and aren't great. It's too early, not even I was that good early on.

I run for Beecher, so I've run against Ottawa already this year and they aren't overrated. Buck Hill is a good runner and deserves to be ranked based on some strong early season races. Emerick had a bad race, but I agree that he should probably be ranked higher than 15th. The people doing the IPTT rankings are doing a good job with the info they have-give them some respect.

prelives400: Take some advice from an elder: the purpose of the message board should be to share information among people who love track and cross country. If you had been following the posts from someone close to the PBL program, posts that contained accurate information and not mind games posturing, you would have noticed that at least one PBL supporter (me) said they were overrated. PBL didn't make up the rankings. What PBL showed is this: Brehm: 1:06 faster than last year at SJO; Pacey: 0:42 faster; Cardosa: :06 faster; Carlson: :07 faster (including Friday night shoulder injury in football that left him unable to lift his right arm above 90 degrees); and Kyrouac: 1:30 faster. Further advice: don't diss other teams or individuals based on rankings which are educated guesses at best. Last year PBL was underrated all year and it served as motivation for the team. Maybe your comments will do the same this year.

Although I do agree that Ottawa is overrated, i don't feel that it matters to be honest. Something Ive learned as a runner is that you cant go by rankings. They are simply a list of runners or teams who have been doing well at that time. For instance.... last years state 4/8 final top five. One of those teams wasn't even on the list before they made finals. All that matters is how you run on one day. IHSA STATE. Just go out there, have fun, ignore the ranks, and run to your hearts content.
Just looking out for the overlooked.

I run for Marquette and i agree as of late we haven't been showing top five ability but i can promise that we are not overrated and we have shown that we can beat the good single A teams such as Beecher, Oregon, Henry, Sherrard and we have a chance to run at Detwiller Park this up coming wednesday and I promise that we will prove that we deserve our ranking.

Not trying to start a fight, but the only reason marquette beat oregon at the princeton invite is because princeton completely forgot to score oregon's third guy. The third guy was less than ten places behind Oregon's second guy who got 24th.

Unbreakable89: Thanks for the email. Of course my favorite team is PBL. My eligibility was used up years ago. You seemed to miss the point about dissing teams or individuals based on rankings. Does any team really want an inflated ranking?

Ottawa Marquette's up and down season seems to be commendable. It shows that they won't give up until they get what they want. I would argue with anyone that says that the team or Buck Hill are overrated.

I guess I will give it my shot also. Teams: 1. Elmwood 2. Winnebago 3. PBL 4. Marquette 5. Oregon Dark Horse team: Robinson, Rockford Christian, and Bureau Valley Individuals: 1. Feldhake 2. Thompson 3. Carlson 4. Emmrick 5. Montoya News: Logan Block (Knoxville) is injured and may be out until mid October. This will surly hurt his chances for top 10 and hurt their teams chances to repeat their appearance on stage for a trophy. I was looking back at predictions early in the year. I have to give myself a little credit on this one. 2 of my 3 darkhorses panned out, and I had 4 of the top 5 picked, and the one I missed was the darkhorse. Congrats to all the top finishers at State. I can't wait until next year (can you tell I am also a Cub fan).
