10:15 for the class A is a good time but not AA. are you kidding. AA should be like 10:05. maybe 10:10. there are lots of runners that can run 10:15 in AA.

i think times should be hard to reach and if people smart enough right now everyone who ran sub 16:00 can run under 10 indoors.

i agreee that it should be sub ten for sure. Even sub 950 is not unreasonable. last year it was 948 or so and 20 some guys were in the race. A few even fell down because of congestion in the first couple laps. if anything i think the qualifying time should go down to low 940's

That 3:35 is slow for the 4x400R...Evanston won last year with a 3:22 and change. ...But look out for another performance by someone else in that 4x400R

Class A 4x800 does anyone know about where this qualifying time should be and when will it be out officially? Coaches will recieve qualifying times at the december 6th itccca meeting ( www.itccca.org. It will be on the web shortly after that.

I like how the IPTT meet has evolved with the qualifying time option. If you do reduce any of the times, don't do it by too much. The BEST part about having an indoor qualifying meet is that it pushes athletes to perform better at an earlier rate, thus getting a great jump on qualifying outdoors. With the potential and eventual change to a three class system, smaller schools running a competitive indoor season will be able to add confidence heading into new divisions after qualifying for the Top Times Meet. IPTT has only gotten stronger since you've taken over. Keep up the great work!
Just curious, if/when the three class system passes, will IPTT reflect the change within its own meet structure as well and have three qualifying divisions?

Technically, IPTT could institute it's own classification of teams with it's own defined parameters. I suggest we go with Large and Small School Divisions for this meet I would even suggest that Large School be over 1000 and Small Schools under that. I would use the IHSA multiplier as well. I think most of the multiplied teams would end up in the smaller class.

I want to add that I am not speaking for ROCK or Tony J. on this, but I feel their thoughts on trying to run 3 classes indoors would be almost impossible. The fact we use a qualifying system similiar to that of NCAA DIII works well for the 2 class system we have, although it mirrors the IHSA 2 class system. This allows us to put on a meet of high quality performances from both classes.

I agree, if only for the fact that three classes and a full load of entries in each event to make sure the events ARE actually competitive, would be especially dificualt given the "room" or lack thereof at the Armory. You'd have to look at three days to do it right with three classes.

Well THAT certainly makes a difference!
Although, while the stadium can accomodate (and do so much more comfortably) a large group of competitors, I do still think that it would be tough to run three classes. Knowing that the site is different does make me think it could be done though (I'm just not sure I'd like to be the one figuring out how! Sorry ROCK!)
And thanks DBANDRE for correcting me. I appreciate it!

I for one am hoping to see some more stringent qualifying standards.....only because I'm fearful of cramming everyone that barely fit into the armory into the Shirk center. It's a fantastic facility, don't get me wrong, but the size will be an issue (are we going to start the horizontals 5 hours before the running events?)

Actually, the shirk center can hold more spectators and athletes than the Armory.

Actually, the shirk center can hold more spectators and athletes than the Armory. Not to mention it can better separate spectators on one level from athletes on the competition floor. Plus, I think the surface is MUCH better and VERY fast! This was a great move in my opinion. . .not that that matters much of course!
