On the girls side, there's Monica Hahn of Lincoln-Way Central. she won state in the mile in middle school and was the runner-up at the IESA XC state meet.

Those times are disgusting, how do those kids run those kind of times? When I started track in Junior High it was fun and not really competitive until sectionals. Did most of you guys run these kinds of times in Junior High?

Totally agree tc. Those are wicked. The only guy I can remember when I was in junior high running those times was Blaze Carry. That kid was a animal in junior high. He was alright in high school, but never as good as he was in junior high. Those times are nuts. I'm pretty sure outside of Blaze the next fastest guy was like a five minute miler and that was baller. Well I guess times have changed.

i was 10th in state my 8th grade year. my best time was 1107. had a bad race in the 1600 at state but best time was a 457. And for imcoming freshman Tom Hoster from lemont should be pretty solid. He had a good summer and looks to have a good impact

Post by strauss32 on Aug 31, 2007 19:08:22 GMT -5
im pretty sure Hoster ran a 5:01 or a 5:03 mile in 8th grade. i think he'll be #3 on our team this year and i wouldn't be surprised if he was in 16s early out.

Yes, he's a freshman. The course is a large forest preserve in St. Charles. Check out their website:http://www.kompusport.com/results/xcountry/2007/leavey/boys_var.html

how far was that race??? Was it a full 3 miles
|
|
|
Post by dgndad on Sept 4, 2007 19:56:50 GMT -5
Yes, 3 miles according to their information. It's called the St. Charles Leavey Invitational. Ben Silver had 15:19 for his first 3 mile race.
The course record was set at 14:31.9 by Evan Jager of Jacobs H.S. on Sept. 2, 2006 (of course he beat everyone by 44 seconds). 15:19 would have been 5th last year too...keep an eye on Ben Silver from Downers Grove.
