Here's the rankings going into PBL Sectionals for Boy's/Girl's from one person's eyes. This is purely for fun/discussion purposes, the race still has to be run and anything can happen on race day. Good luck to all the teams in this sectional, I wish all of you the best of luck. ;D
BOYS PBL Sectional:
TEAMS:
1. Shelbyville - Have been running tough, will race Unity tommorrow in OKAW Conference meet. 2. Cumberland - Powers and Co. looked good at M-S Inv. 3. T-Town - Haven't seen much results on them lately, but with foreign exchange student at #2 running really well, they'll be tough. 4. PBL - Have struggled without Carlson, but with strong front three, can be anywhere from 1st to 7th, depending upon the day. But it's their home course, so I'd look for a great race from them. 5. Tolono Unity - Have been looking really good lately. If Dodds and Kraft keep moving up, and their pack keep improving, they will be in the mix. 6. Beecher - Really solid 1 and 2, unless they're missing someone from Amboy meet, will struggle due to 3-5 being so far back. 7. SJO - If #1 and 2 keep moving up and the pack follows, can easily be a top five contender. 8. Uni High - With healthy Malcolm Taylor, and Rundus improving, this team will be a definite top 5 threat at Sectionals. 9. Monticello - With loss of Clark, will be tough for team to make it out, but NEVER count out a Butler coached Monticello team.
INDIV: 1. Feldhake (STA) - Defending state champ, has to be favorite. 2. Jones (Oak) - Will be in contention for the win and will make it a fight till the finish line. 3. Rhodes (Mont) - Coming on strong, will be in the fight for the win. 4. Brehm/Pacey (PBL) - Both are running very strong right now. 5. Paarlberg (Beecher) - Looking tough at Amboy, don't count him out for contending for the win. 6. Reel (Shelbyville) - Strong sophomore is always in the mix. 7. Dodds (Unity) - You never know what this young man is capable of. 8. Carey(Beecher) - another tough Beecher runner, will be on Detweiller Saturday. 9. Powers (Cumberland) - Leads a strong contention of Pirates. 10. Taylor (Uni) - will be in the mix with the top 5.
-I'm Unfamiliar with the top T-Town guys, but I'm sure their top 2 will be in the fight, along with Hollingsworth (Mont.), Cardosa (PBL), Kraft (Unity), Blaase (SJO), etc. If there is anyone I'm leaving out, please add them to the list.

GIRLS PBL Sectional Ranking:
TEAM:
1. Urbana University High - Has been beaten a few times this week by sectional teams, BUT they have not been running at full strength with girls missing for college visits, SAT's, etc. At full strength, they are still the favorites. 2. St. Joseph-Ogden - Led by Hogan and Long, this freshman laiden team is hoping to set the foundation for a strong future for this program. 3. Central A & M - No team has a tougher top 3 runners, but with 4 and 5 being so far back, will have a tough time with Uni and SJO due to their tight pack in the middle. 4. Tri-Valley - Let by Stephanie Brown, this team will be in the mix for a state birth. 5. Heyworth - Still an unknown team. At full strength, can compete with the top 3 teams. 6. T-Town - Again, I don't know much about this team and haven't seen many results, but I've heard they are a good team and could be in the mix for top 5. 7. Monticello - Good group of girls, coming on strong. 8. Beecher - Will definitly be in the mix for top 7 team, looked good at Amboy.
INDIVIDUAL: Again, not certain about many of the teams, so doing the best I can from who I know. Please add any I forget.
1. Brown (TV) - Always a tough competitor. 2. Adthingy/Aylmer (A&M) - WOW, a great duo looking to fight for the win. 3. Hogan (SJO) - coming on strong, looking more and more like her freshman year where she was 10th at state. 4. Mehnert (Uni) - Always in the mix late in the season. 5. Feeney (STM) - Fierce competitor late in the season. 6. Long (SJO) - Tough Freshman with lots of speed. 7. Chaotie (A&M) - strong 3 for A & M 8. GU/Russell (Uni) - tough top 3 for Uni High.
I know T-Town/Beecher/Tri-Valley/Heyworth all have tough girls who should be added to the list, but dont' have any info, so please add as you will. Thanks, and best of luck this post season.

I still say on the boys side you can put a blanket over the top three teams right now. T-Town and Cumberland might have the advantage only because they have better fifth men right now. I wouldn't rule out anyone at this point. Even Monticello. I am hearing that soccer player is someone different than the one you are talking about. Not as good, but as good as Foley or better.

Yeah the top three on guys side are soooo close right now. We should get alot better idea about that come regionals as T-Town and Shelbyville will be headed for the Skull and Crossbones to take on cumberland. Also girls side I'm not trying to argue, or say you should move her up, but I'm takeing Alymer for the win.

GIRLS PBL Sectional Ranking:
volsxc1, your top 3 team picks are solid…
TEAM: 1. Urbana Uni High 2. SJO SJO may give Uni a challenge, as Uni’s #1-#4 are good, but it takes 5 to score – I’d give SJO an outside shot if they can get #3-#7 runners closer to the front.
3. Central A&M (Best 1-2 punch) 3rd runner (Choatie) should give them a low enough score for solid top 5 team finish.
Last two spots?
Beecher – any status on Katie Stolzenbach? If she is anywhere near healthy and running, Beecher is a lock for top 4.
Teutopolis – No front runners, but good 5-pack may be enough to get ‘em into the top 5 teams. Tri-Valley – This team will need #2-#7 runners to come up big with Brown for any chance for a return trip to state. Tuscola – Beat Tri-Valley & Monticello at Spartan, but 3 miles may give the edge back to these other teams. Hoopeston – good 1-2, but then falls way off. Monticello, Shelbyville and Altamont – Just not enough. I would not include Heyworth, if Danielle Dixon is not running at 100%.
INDIVIDUAL: Top 10 Reagan Aylmer (CAM) – running very strong right now. Favorite Lauren Adcok (CAM) – finished just ahead of Aylmer at Carlinville Inv (Oct 9) Stephanie Brown (TV) – has not performed up to expectations, but would not count her out just yet. Hanah Hogan (SJO) – will lead her team to state. Michelle Mehnert (Uni) – will lead her team to state. ADD: Erika Ramos (Hoopeston) – She will be the favorite at Beecher regional. She has beat Cara Feeney a number of times this season at the 3 mile distance (7 seconds behind her at SJO Spartan 1.96mi). ADD: Justine Seidel (Altamont) – She will be the favorite at Cumberland regional. Top 5 finishes at Olney, Cumberland and (placed behind IPTT # 10 TeNeal Pinkston at) Robinson Inv. Won Conference meet vs Teutopolis runners. ADD: Mary Francis Leake (Lexington) – Freshman has beat or run faster times than any other runners not listed above. She beat CAM’s Adcok at Woodruff and beat SJO’s Long at PND Fr/So race at Detweiller. Cara Feeney (STM) – Individual state qualifier. Sidney Long (SJO) - with Hogan, she gives SJO the best 1-2 after CAM’s Aylmer/Adcok.

Thanks for the add-on's..I totally forgot about Ramos, she will definitly be up there. Anyone know what happened to Brown at Amboy, she was 32nd according to the results. I'd definitly say that A&M could possibly go 1-2. Good points on all of those.

After this weekend's meets, I see a few possible changes. (10-15-07) TEAMS:
1. Shelbyville - Won OVC meet last thursday, looking like a top 5 tream. 2. T-Town - Beat Cumberland by 10pts, looked good doing it to. 3. Cumberland - Lost to T-Town by 10pts, but still running strong. 4. Beecher - Has a strong front 3, and 4/5 are stronger than PBL's 4/5. Looked impressive at Peoria placing 4th, one place behind a solid Robinson team. 5.PBL/Tolono Unity - I'd say this is a toss-up right now. If Cardosa is healed up, and Carlson runs in the 16's, then they should qualify out, but Carlson hasn't raced in 2 wks and their #5 has been high 17's/low 18's, so it's hard to say. Unity's pack has been looking good, and Dodds/Kraft continue to improve placing 2nd to Shelbyville in OVC. 7. SJO -Looked good at Peoria Heights w/o #4 Ford running, and #2 Baker having a bad race, still competed well. Normal #6 man ran 17:00 on Detweiller. If healthy and put it together, can have splits from 16:25 - 17:00 for top 7 runners, which could give them a shot at top 5. 8. Uni High - Idle this weekend, but will be a contender come sectionals with a healthy and full squad. 9. Monticello - If Clark gets cleared to run, look out for this squad for a top 5.
INDIV: 1. Feldhake (STA) - Defending state champ, has to be favorite, especially without soccer to distract his training from here on out, hopefully the lack of training and wear/tear of soccer didn't make it too late. 2. Jones (Oak) - Will be in contention for the win and will make it a fight till the finish line. 3. Rhodes (Mont) - Coming on strong, will be in the fight for the win. 4. Paarlberg (Beecher) - ran strong at Peoria Heights Inv. 5. Brehm/Pacey (PBL) - Both are running very strong right now. 6. Reel (Shelbyville) - Strong sophomore is always in the mix. capable of. 7. Carey(Beecher) - another tough Beecher runner, ran well on Saturday at Peoria 9. Powers (Cumberland) - Leads a strong contention of Pirates. 10. Dodds (Unity) - ran well at OVC last Thursday
This meet looks to be shaping up for one exciting fight.

Good predicton I think at this point. PBL has alot of heath issues that I'm not sure they can sort out in time. Beecher is really coming on strong right now. I watched the Okaw and Tolono looked really strong there. Monticello could make it out as I've all ready said if Clark runs, but that is a very big if. I hate to say it, but right now I'd have to say that Jones is the favorite to win. Not that I have a problem with Jones, I know Matt. Should be very tight. Anybody have resent full results for T-Town?

Good Predictions volsxc1. I am going to put up my own predictions on friday. I am interested in seeing results of SVC on tuesday. I believe pbl, sjo and uni-high are all in the conference right?
One thing that makes Cumberland stronger now is the addition of Doug Powers brother Nick who is back after a couple of weeks. He won open division at St. Anthony. If he would have been in varsity race they would have beaten Teutopolis. Cumberland hosting their own regional may give them the edge over T-Town and Shelbyville. Should be a dogfight. Is there a tougher regional in the state?

PBL and SJO are in the SVC but Uni High isn't. The four teams that will be running are PBL, SJO, STM, and Clifton. The other four teams in the conference do not have cc.

Not sure who will all be running for PBL. I'd say if Cardosa is banged up that he won't run and will save it for Regionals/Sectionals b/c this meet is an "unofficial" SVC meet due to there only being 4 teams. There is only one race, starting at 4:30p at Paxton, boys and girls together. SJO girls should win easily and if everyone runs for PBL will be a tight race between SJO and PBL. If PBL goes 1-2-3, then SJO will have to have next 5 spots, plus 7 ahead of 5 to have a shot. Good luck to both teams tommorrow.

GIRLS PBL Sectional Ranking:
TEAM:
1. Urbana University High - Has been beaten a few times this week by sectional teams, BUT they have not been running at full strength with girls missing for college visits, SAT's, etc. At full strength, they are still the favorites due to experience in big meets, and have yet to be beaten at full strength. 2. St. Joseph-Ogden - Looked very good at Peoria Heights with 3 girls under 20min, and 4th around 20:20. With addition of #3 runner, who was absent at Peoria, SJO could have potentially 4 girls under 20 min, which could propel them to the favorite position. 3. Central A & M - No team has a tougher top 3 runners, but with 4 and 5 being so far back, will have a tough time with Uni and SJO due to their tight pack in the middle. 4. Beecher - ran well at Peoria Heights Inv. 5. Monticello - if run like they did at OVC's, have a good shot at getting out. 6. Tri-Valley - Led by Stephanie Brown, this team will be in the mix for a state birth, but need help from back 3 to get out. 7. Heyworth - Still an unknown team. At full strength, can compete with the top 3 teams. 8. T-Town - Again, I don't know much about this team and haven't seen many results, but I've heard they are a good team and could be in the mix for top 5.

volsxc1,
Teutopolis has four girls (E. Jansen, T. Heuermann, T. Goeckner, B. Kreke) under 20:30 and one in 21s (C. Heuermann). This was on a 2.99 mi course at their conference meet. Jansen ran 19:51, next two runners at 20:04 and 20:07. Again, no threat to the front runners, but they should put 5 in good scoring position. Tri-Valley, Monticello and Tuscola will have to have a big day to take that 5th team slot away from T-Town.
I still agree with your 1 thru 4 pick: Uni, SJO, CAM, Beecher

volsxc1: Carlson is running for PBL in the SVC meet today and Cardosa has rested up and should run. With those two and Kyrouac improving, PBL should beat SJO. Where Kunce and Clifton's #2 come in could make a difference.

Results of Sangamon Valley Conference unofficial meet at Paxton today under overcast and very windy conditions: PBL 29, SJO 30, St. Thomas More 79, Clifton-no team score. Kunsch and Clifton #2 (Weber) did make a difference because they did not have a full team: Pacey-PBL 16:09 Brehm-PBL 16:25 Cardosa-PBL 16:51 Blaase-SJO 16:55 Baker-SJO 17:05 Nix-SJO 17:24 Kunsch 17:29 Ford-SJO 17:35 Thompson-SJO 17:42 Allison-SJO 17:43 Star-SJO 17:48 Carlson-PBL 18:11 Weber 18:22 Kyrouac-PBL 18:23

It was very windy for the SVC meet today. PBL's top 3 ran tough as usual, with SJO putting 7 ahead of Carlson and Kyrouac. If Clifton had a full team SJO would have won the meet, but since it was a triangular and no other runners broke into the top 12, PBL won thanks to the 1-2-3 finish. Congrat's to them on a great race, and good luck at the Beecher Regional.
I saw Beecher run this past weekend, and they are a very solid team. They match up very well with PBL's top 3 and will have a definite advantage due to having a stronger 4 and 5 than PBL.
I'd say right now the top 3 will be Shelbyville, T-Town, and Cumberland, with Beecher, PBL, Unity, SJO, Uni-High, and Monticello fighting it out for the final 2 spots.

volsxc: PBL ran very well today on a tough course at Beecher. About 2 miles of the course is off into the woods (with some ravines) and the runners go up the same hill 2 times, once about 3/8 miles into the race and the second time with 250 meters or so to go. The hill makes the one at Orchard Downs look tame--at least 50% higher and about twice as long (it figures). All of PBL's runners looked good, particularly Carlson and Kyrouac--who won the meet for PBL.

Glad to see Carlson run well. From what his coach said tuesday, he had Hardee's for lunch and was feeling it throughout the race. I'll chime in with my predictions going into Sectionals when I have time. I was a bit surprised by the cumberland regional results, but with the two Powers running well, it'll make them tougher to beat.

Here's my first crack at the boys, I'll add more later on to it and maybe make some changes once I have more time to disect it.
Boy's Teams:
1. Cumberland: WOW, what a nice pack they had. They looked amped for their regional. 2. T-Town - Foreign Exchange student had a rough race, but I'm sure they'll be ready come saturday. They are a title threat for sure at this sectional. 3. Shelbyville: The fate of this team depends on #5 man Selby. Top 4 are solid and if Selby can have a great race, they can still win this meet. 4. Beecher: with 2 guys breaking up PBL's top 2, and having a stronger 5th runner, I'll have to give this to Beecher. If their regional would have been more than a dual up-front, Beecher would have won. 5. PBL - with Pacey and Brehm leading the way, they still are a favorite to get out, but what must be kept in mind, even if Carlson continues to run better, the distance from Cardosa to Carlson/Kyrouac may be too much. There will be many bodyies piled in after Cardosa, which will give other teams the advantage. 6. Unity - Don't count out Dodds and Co. They have two of the best coaches around, they will be ready. #4 and 5 will need to step-up for them to get out. 7. SJO - This is a dangerous team, if they all put it together on the same day, can be as high as 4th in the sectional. Depth and Pack running has been the key for SJO this year, and could propell them over Unity/PBL if all 7 are up for the race. 8. Uni-High - have a nice pack after front runner Malcolm Taylor, in a bigger race they may have a chance to move up. 9. monticello - their fate depends on if Clark comes back or not.
*note* This is PBL's home course and they will be amped up. The course is a little rough still on the far loop, and not much wind protection if it's a windy day. Being a much larger and competitive race, the teams with the stronger packs will have an advantage over teams with front runners and lack of strength in #4-5 runners. Look for some teams to surprise some people in this meet, remember, that's why they run the races. I look forward to hearing from your guys' input who were at the other regionals around. Individuals
1. Justin Jones (Oak)- This kid is tough right now, and he will push Feldhake to the line in a gutty race. 2. Matt Feldhake (STA) - Defending state champ, if rounds out into shape with soccer now over, is still one of the favorites to win it. Never count him out in a kickers race. 3. Rhodes (MONT) - Stud runner will be in the mix for individual honors. 4. Paarlberg (Beech) - Has been on a tear of late, and will be in the hunt for the win. 5. Pacey (PBL) - has been running solid going into post season. 6. Powers (Cumberland) - If continues to run as well as regionals, can be higher up. 7. Bloemer (T-Town) - Leads an exciting group of runners. 8. Brehm (PBL) - Can be higher up if has a solid race, and it is their home course. 9. Reel (Shelbyville) - can be up with Pacey if gets back on track from an off-day at regionals. 10. Dodds (Unity) - Has been constant top-dog all season.

Girls PBL Sectional preview:
1. SJO - Lady Spartans have been on a roll, led by Hogan and Long, have a tough pack in the middle to complement the two front runners. If run like they have the last two weekends, they are the favorites. 2. Uni-High - Now with a couple races under their belt at full-strength, look at Uni High to make the team race a tight one. They will be out for revenge on SJO after saturday's race. 3. Central A & M - Adthingy and Aylmer lead this team into the post season. Lack of a strong 4 and 5 will keep them from knocking off SJO or Uni High 4. Beecher - Looked good on Saturday, and will make it to state if all 5 run solid. 5. Monticello - up and coming team, if they pack up, can advance to state. 6. Newton - Looked good at regionals to get the upset over t-town. 7. T-Town - Looks to rebound from regional loss to make a push for top 5. 8. Tri-Valley- with Brown leading the way, low 1st points can give them an advantage.
Individuals:
1. Stephanie Brown (TV) - All recovered and fresh, she should be the run-away winner. 2. Ericka Ramos (Hoop) - Has been on a tear lately, look for her to challenge Brown early. 3. Mehnert (Uni) - Returning All-Stater is in top form. 4. Hogan (SJO) - Looks to get prove something after taking a hard elbow from Mehnert in the regional. 5. Adthingy (A&M) - Tough front runner from A&M will be in the mix with lead pack. 6. Long (SJO) - Tough and Speedy freshman will look to start making her presence known with the top girls at this sectional. 7. Aylmer (A&M) - Will also be in that top pack in this tight individual race. 8. Feeney (STM) - Always a tough racer in the post-season. 9. Troike (Tuscola) - Freshman has been impressive the last two wks. 10. Knuth (Beecher) - ran well at regionals, looks to lead her team to a state berth.
Best of luck this week to all of you training your butts off for the dream. I look forward to your insights into this, one man's opinion/thoughts. Sorry if I left anyone out, should be a fun week.

Very good prediction. I almost completely agree with everything on the guys side. Girls side I'm not following as close as I should. That is very intesting about A&M's girl. I'll put up my guys side prediction later this week.
